Makna Metaforis dalam Lirik Lagu Album Pikiran dan Perjalanan Band Barasuara: Tinjauan Semantik Stephen Ullmann

Abstract

The use of metaphors in speech or communication is not only as beauty and variety of language but the delivery of meaning in the form of imitation. The purpose of this study is to describe the meaning of Stephen Ullmann's metaphor which contains 4 types of metaphors including anthropomorphic metaphors, animal metaphors, concrete to abstract metaphors, and synesthetic metaphors in the lyrics of the album song "Pikiran dan Perjalanan" band Barasuara. The approach used in this study is descriptive. The data collection technique is carried out with three techniques (1) listening, reading, and understanding lyrics, (2) researching, recording, and grouping song lyrics, (3) data processing (Sudaryanto, 2015: 203). While the method used is the right analytical method because this method is to analyze the selected data. Exemplified in data 2 with the code 04/PP/A including the song Mind and Journey which refers to the lyrics of advancing with your heart is included in the anthropomorphic metaphor shown in the word forward. The word advance has the root word pace, lexically the word has the meaning of (1) to be speed, (2) forward, (3) to increase (KBBI V, 2023). Of the three lexical meanings that accurately describe in data 2, namely (1) being a pace. The word is also included in the verb, which signifies that there is an activity to feel confident in something in the heart to continue to be maintained.The results showed that of the 9 songs in the album Mind and Travel, 28 metaphor data were found that belonged to Stephen Ullmann's metaphor, including the most dominant, namely concrete to abstract metaphors as many as 19 data, then followed by anthropomorphic as many as 4 data, the third order of animal metaphors as many as 3 data, and finally synesthetic metaphors that were not found data in the album songs Pikiran dan Perjalanan.
