Nilai-Nilai Budaya dalam Buku Kalarahu Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Jawa

Abstract

This research was conducted because researchers wanted to know the value content in a literary work. The literary works used in this research are folk prose stories. This article tends to explain the cultural values contained in the book Kalarahu (Collection of Javanese Folk Tales). The book Kalarahu (Collection of Javanese Folk Tales) is a collection of Indonesian folk tales originating from the island of Java. This book contains several cultural values in it. This research uses a descriptive method. This article refers to Franz Magnis Suseno's views on Javanese ethics. The results of the research show the cultural values contained in the book Kalarahu (Collection of Javanese Folk Stories), namely: (1) the value of harmony, (2) the value of respect, (3) the value of social harmony, (4) the relationship between humans and nature and the supernatural, (5) the value of kingship as a concentration of cosmic power, and (6) the value of awareness of destiny. Therefore, it can be concluded by the author that the analysis of a series of Javanese folk tales reveals examples and cultural values that can be a guide in living life.
