ANALYSIS OF DIRECTIVE SPEECH ACTS IN THE CARTOON MOVIE OF THE MAGICIAN'S ELEPHANT MOVIE

Abstract

Abstract. This research is entitled Analysis of Directive Speech Act In The Cartoon Movie Of The Magician's Elephant. The purpose of this research is to indentify the type and function of directive speech in the cartoon movie of the Magician's Elephant. The data in this research is in the form of dialogues found in the movie The Megician's Elephant. This research uses Leech (1983) theory to indentify the function of directive speech act in the cartoon movie of the magician's elephant, and the theory by Searle (1979) to indentify the types of directive speech act.This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. The data collection method used in this research is observation method. Based on the data analyzed by researchers, found the type of directive speech act in total 17 data. Comanding 5 data, Inviting 3 data, Forrbiding 3 data, Requesting 1 data, Seguesting 5 data. Researchers also found a total of 15 data, namely. Competitive function 4 data, Convivial function 5 data, Collaborative function 4 data, Conflictive function has 2 data.  Keywords: Pragmatic, Directive Speech act, Movie
