Abstract

Long-term assistance for people with mental disorders can result in chronic stress and cause physical and psychological tension. Stress needs to be handled properly so as not to cause disease and worse consequences. Then, weak stress management in caregivers has the potential to result in relapse in ODGJ after hospital treatment. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of breathing relaxation as an effort to manage stress. The subjects of this research were 27 mental health cadres who play an important role in the community in dealing with mental health problems in sub-districts X and Y. The types of activities provided were stress management psychoeducation and respiratory relaxation training. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results of this research show that psychoeducation is effective in increasing knowledge about stress management and training in breathing relaxation techniques can be an effective way of managing stress.
