AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN DAN SUN PROTECTION FACTOR (SPF) EKSTRAK ETANOL KULIT BUAH DELIMA HITAM

Abstract


Kulit buah delima hitam (Punica granatum L) dikenal memiliki daya antioksdan yang kuat. Kandungan total senyawa fenolik dan total flavonoid golongan antosianin yang terdapat dalam kulit buah delima hitam yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kulit buah delima yang lain menjadikannya berpotensi sebagai bahan tabir surya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur aktivitas antioksidan dan memperkirakan nilai Sun Protection Factor (SPF) ekstrak etanol kulit buah delima hitam. Penelitian dilakukan secara in vitro menggunakan Spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Untuk aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH), sedangkan untuk penentuan SPF absorbansi ekstrak diukur pada panjang gelombang UVB adalah 290-320 nm dengan interval 5nm. Penentuan nilai SPF menggunakan metode Mansur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kulit buah delima hitam memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 7,33 g/mL dan nilai SPF adalah 34,17. Jadi ekstrak kulit buah delima hitam memiliki antioksidan yang sangat kuat dan berpotensi sebagai tabir surya yang baik terhadap sinar UVB. Dengan demikian ekstrak kulit buah delima hitam berpeluang untuk dikembangkan sebagai sediaan tabir surya selain sebagai antioksidan.
