Semiotic Analysis of Traditional Clothes for Lampung Melinting Brides in the Pre-Wedding Photo of Nikita Willy and Indra Priawan

Abstract


This study aims to find out about the meaning of traditional Lampung Melinting clothing worn by Lampung women, especially Melinting. This study entitled "Semiotic Analysis of Traditional Lampung Melinting Clothing in Nikita Willy and Indra Priawan's Prewedding Photos" is a study using a descriptive study with a qualitative approach and Charles Sander Pierce's semiotic analysis as a research method to examine signs and find meaning in traditional clothing worn by Lampung Melinting brides. Data was obtained through interviews, observing and documenting which showed the meaning and the requirements or clothing that had been approved that must be used by Lampung Melinting brides at weddings. From the results of the study through interviews with traditional leaders and local communities, the author found that the three semiotic elements, namely signs, references and meanings, produced an important study that must be understood and in a sign of the object studied in this case clothing has a philosophical meaning of life that is adjusted to Islamic law.
