Psychoanalysis Study of Main Characters as in American Series of Umbrella Academy

Abstract


Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis theory discourse is an approach used to analyze the characters of a film, book or a play. Researcher aim to examine the id, ego, and superego are the primary concepts or points of this research, which is conducted using Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic approach. The main characters from “Umbrella Academy” comic and famously it’s a Netflix’s series are the object of the study because the characters have an uniqueness with one another and have an impactful meaning in the story. This research seeks to determine the influence of the relationships among the characters growing up in a dysfunctional home. This research uses both a psychoanalytic and qualitative methodology. The data source of this research obtained from the interaction between the characters in the first season of Netflix series “Umbrella Academy”.
