PENINGKATAN PEMAHAMAN MEMBACA TEKS REPORT PESERTA DIDIK MELALUI METODE SMALL-GROUP DISCUSSION

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to describe the application of the Small Group Discussion (SGD) learning method
in improving reading comprehension. The subjects of this study were students of Class X Language 2 SMA
Takhassus Al Qur'an Wonosobo. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle
consists of 4 stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. Methods of data collection using tests and
observations; the test is to measure the students' ability to read while the observation sheet aims to observe the
activities of the teacher and students. The results showed that the use of SGD can improve reading comprehension.
This is indicated by an increase in the number of students who achieve the Minimum Completeness Criteria
(KKM). In the first cycle there were 59% of students who completed and in the second cycle increased to 91.2%.
Students' reading comprehension increased when students exchanged opinions and information on reading on the
Report text material. This study also found that there are advantages and disadvantages to the application of
SGD.
