PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS EKSPLANASI DENGAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING BERBANTU MEDIA VIDEO UNTUK SISWA KELAS XI SMA ALI MAKSUM

Abstract


The writing skills of the eleventh graders of SMA Ali Maksum are still low. Students are not interested and many
get scores below the KKM. This study aims to describe the improvement of explanatory text writing skills in class
XI IPA SMA Ali Maksum by using the Problem Based Learning method assisted by video media. This research
method is classroom action research. The research subjects were XI IPA 2 SMA Ali Maksum totaling 32 students.
This research consists of two cycles. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, explanatory
text writing tests, and documentation. The results showed that the Problem Based Learning method assisted by
video media could improve the ability to write explanatory texts in terms of process and results. The process
improvement is seen from the role of students and teachers who are more active in working together and
enthusiastic in implementation. The increase in results was seen from the average score which increased from preaction the average score was 69.38, the first cycle was 76.75, and the second cycle was 84.50. The improvement
of students' writing ability in the second cycle was more evenly distributed even though the resulting score was
not as significant as in the first cycle. In addition, the percentage of completeness is also increasing with every
cycle from 44% to 100%.
