Abstract


The aims of this research are: (1) To find out whether the application of problem based learning model can
improve students' mathematical understanding ability. This research is a classroom action research conducted at
VIII-A of SMP Negeri 2 Tempuran, Karawang Regency. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical
understanding ability. Based on the results of the study, it is known that: there is an increase in students'
mathematical understanding ability by applying the problem based learning model
