PENGGUNAAN MEDIA FACEBOOK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETEAMPILAN DAN MOTIVASI SISWA KELAS X MIA SMA NEGERI 2 TARERAN DALAM MENULIS TEKS RECOUNT

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of social media Facebook can improve students' skills
and students' motivation in writing recount texts in Class X MIA SMA Negeri 2 Tareran for the 2020-2021
academic year. This research is a classroom action research (Classroom Action Research). This study uses a
descriptive qualitative approach. Based on the statistical analysis of pre-test, formative test, and post-test,
students' writing skills improved. The average score of students' writing on the pretest was 67.75. This value is
lower than the minimum score for English subjects at SMA N 2 Tareran, which is 75. After receiving several
treatments in cycle 1, students' writing skills improved significantly. The results of the formative test showed that
the average score of the students increased to 74.5. That's 6.75 points greater than the average pre-test score
(67.75). However, the increase was not quite satisfactory. The average score of the formative test still cannot pass
the minimum score in English. In addition, there are 7 students who have not yet reached the KKM. This means
that further treatment is needed. As a result, the researcher gave treatment to the students in cycle 2 with revised
lesson plans. The post-test conducted at the end of the cycle showed that the average score of the students had
reached 79.25, an increase of 4.75 points from the formative test
