UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KEAKSARAAN AWAL MELALUI KEGIATAN BERMAIN HURUF KELOMPOK A TK PGRI JAMBON TAHUN AJARAN 2021/2022

Abstract


Therefore, the researcher will conduct a classroom action research entitled Efforts to improve early literacy skills
through letter playing activities for Group A students at PGRI Jambon Kindergarten. The purpose of this study
was to improve early literacy skills in Group A students at PGRI Jambon Kindergarten. The benefits of these
classroom actions to improve children's ability to connect symbols and letter sounds are increasing. Meanwhile,
educators get new knowledge so that it can be used as a reference in designing learning activities.
Early literacy or Pre-literacy is a term used to describe a child's ability to use letters or read and write that was
mastered before the child learned how to read and write. the level of ability to recognize early literacy in several
indicators of ability in group A children (aged 4-5 years) adapted from a competency-based curriculum, as
follows: 1) recognize symbols, 2) recognize the sounds of animals/objects around them , 3) make meaningful
doodles, 4) imitate (write and pronounce) the letters A-Z. While the activity of playing letters. While the activity
of playing letters, the main activity is carried out using various media and letter game activities that can improve
the development of children's early literacy. This research uses Classroom Action Research according to
Suharsimi Arikunto's research model, using 3 cycles. Through the stages of planning, implementation, observation,
and reflection. The dependent variable is literacy ability while the independent variable is playing letters. The
research subjects were group A children of PGRI Jambon Kindergarten, Ponorogo Regency which collected 15
children, 5 boys and 10 girls. This research was carried out in the first semester in the month of the 2021-2022
school year. The data collection instrument used the observation method. Techniques of data a
