Abstract


Childhood is a golden period, where all potential can be owned by every child. Likewise with the cognitive
potential that is brought from birth. It is heredity that will determine the maximum limit for the development of a
person's level of intelligence. Based on the observations that the researchers made at the Muslimat NU Pakisputih
Kindergarten in rearranging geometric patterns, it was still low. This is what makes the basis for researchers to
take action to improve children's cognitive abilities. The purpose of the study was to introduce playing using a
flannel board as an effort to improve children's cognitive abilities in compiling geometric patterns. The results of
the study can be seen from the increasing percentage starting from pre-cycle which only reaches 7%, cycle 1
reaches 20% and cycle 2 reaches 60% and cycle 3 reaches a maximum of 80% of children's success rate in
rearranging geometric patterns using flannel board media. The conclusion of the study is that through playing
can be used as a medium to improve children's cognitive abilities more optimally, this is seen from the increasing
percentage of improvement activities carried out. As an effort to develop children's cognitive abilities, we as
teachers should provide meaningful learning for children such as by creating interesting teaching aids and
exciting learning, such as learning while playing
