UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS DESKRIPTIF MENGGUNAKAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING(PBL) PADA SISWA KELAS X MIA 3 SMA NEGERI 1 NUNUKAN

Abstract


This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which aims to find out how to use Liveworksheet media using
the PBL (Problem Based Learning) Learning Model to improve the ability to write English descriptive texts in
class X MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Nunukan. This research was conducted in a collaborative and participatory manner
which was carried out in two cycles. Data collection in this study was carried out using participant observation
and written tests (pre-test and post-test). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that using the Problem
Based Learning (PBL) learning model could improve students' English descriptive text writing skills. This is
supported by research data which shows an increase in the percentage of completeness of written tests conducted
at the second meeting in each cycle. At the time of the pre-cycle, students' completeness was only 6.7%. After the
post-test was carried out using Liveworksheet media, the percentage of students' completeness of learning abilities
was 93%. The use of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is proven to be able to improve the ability to write
descriptive English texts for class X MIA 3 students at SMA Negeri 1 Nunukan for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The ability of students in writing descriptive texts before and after participating in learning using the PBL
(Problem Based Learning) model has increased. This is supported by research data which shows an average
increase in post-test results. In this research, the writer uses live worksheet as media. The advantages of using live
worksheets as applications or interactive media in learning English are 1) having many options for making several
types of questions that can be made; 2) make it easier for educators to make varied quizzes; 3) Effective to review
students' understanding; 4) Make practice questions more fun. 5) Able to improve students' writing descriptive
text skills in English. The disadvantage of this Liveworksheet media is that the quiz maker (author) requires a
stable internet network. Because in its use it can not be offline.
