PARADIGMA PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA DAN SASTRA INDONESIA BERBASIS KEARIFAN LOKAL

Abstract


Language and Literature Teaching in schools is still not progressing. Literary literature books are not available in schools. This condition is exacerbated by Indonesian language and literature teachers who do not love literature. If this continues to be allowed, some noble values such as faith, honesty, order, self-control, sacrifice, democracy, thirst for knowledge, will be further destroyed. The most important part in learning Indonesian language and literature in today's modern era is to integrate character education. This is due to the lack of attitudes, especially the positive attitude towards the Indonesian language especially among the coastal community of the island of Buton, and the lack of interest to read and appreciate literary works that can essentially develop character. Yet the island of Buton is very thick will the value of local wisdom inherited by the ancestors of the kingdom of Buton, even recorded the history of the kingdom of Buton is very rich with traditions and cultures that are able to make people have good character. This paper will try to explain about (a) language education and character development; (b) understanding of Indonesian language and literature learning; (c) the literary learning of Indonesia is essentially a media of mental enlightenment, and the intellectual which is the most important part in character education based on local kearian. Thus, Indonesian language and literature learning that integrates various substances of character development will improve the existence of Indonesian language and literature in local, national, and global contexts today.
