Abstract

Most of the participants of the Scientific Writing Study stated that composing the scientific work is complicated and difficult. The products of scientific papers that resulted are the mistakes of written language covering spelling, word choice (diction), effective sentence, and paragraph development, and misstatement of presentation format. Such errors reduce the quality of scientific work. In fact, scientific work worthy of publication must meet the requirements, one of which is the quality of language and the precise presentation format. Innovation that can be done by lecturers is to implement lecturing techniques involving peers. The purpose of this research is 1) to describe the implementation of Mechanical Editing Group technique, 2) to describe the improvement of the quality of the students' scientific work with Mechanical Editing Group technique, 3) to describe the student's response to the implementation of Mechanical Editing Group technique. This research uses Classroom Action Research design, in two cycles. Each cycle passes through four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research instrument consisted of test instrument and nontest instrument. Nontest data analysis is done qualitatively by recaping and descripting data. Data from the test instrument are analyzed quantitatively by descripting the percentages. The results showed 1) Mechanical Editing Group technique is applied by cross-cutting the intercars in the group by giving correction signs on the script of the task in the form of conceptual articles, 2) also shows a decrease of error rate of 12.8%, which means an increase in the quality of work scientifically generated, 3) After application of Mechanical Editing Group technique there is perception or positive impression from student.
