PERBANDINGAN ADAT PERKAWINAN DALAM NOVEL PEREMPUAN SUCI KARYA QAISRA SHAHRAZ DENGAN NOVEL MEMANG JODOH KARYA MARAH ROESLI

Abstract

The object  of this study is to describe marriage customs in a novel “Perempuan Suci” works Qaisra Shahraz with the novel “Memang Jodoh” works Marah Roesli. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source of this research is text novel “Perempuan Suci” works Qaisra Shahraz and the text of the novel is “Memang Jodoh” works Marah Roesli. The data collection technique used is the technique of data collection documents. Data analysis technique used consisted of three phases of activity, namely; data reduction, data display, and conclusion.The results of this study are: There are four different aspects of customary marriage contained in the novel include;position by gender and kinship systems, sacrificial love and customs, procession on the day of the wedding, and about breadwinner. Besides the difference, There are also four aspects of the equation, namely;aspects of buying or applying for boys, tradition of men contested by the women and the mothers who have daughters, cultural engagement and matchmaking culture. This study has implications for the study of literature in high school, namely can be used as teaching materials on the elements of the novel.
