Abstract


This study aims to explore independent learning through Indonesian language teaching materials in the 2013 Curriculum based on text-based learning methods. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with content analysis techniques. The data is the teaching materials sourced from Indonesian Language as Mode of Knowledge: Class VIII (2014, Ministry of Education and Culture). The results of the study show that independent learning is found in teaching materials on every stages of teks-based learning that begins with context building; then continued with three learning activities, namely text modeling, joint construction of the text, and independent construction of the text. The three learning activities contain tasks related to basic competencies which are the elaboration of core competencies.
