Knowledge Improvement and Behavior of Breastfeeding Mothers in Exclusive Breast Milk at Posyandu Flamboyan II Cilegon City

Abstract

Achievement of nutrition improvement targets for health development efforts to prevent stunting In 2020-2024 in Indonesia, one of them is by promoting exclusive breastfeeding in order to achievethe expected number is 80%. The national achievement of exclusive breastfeeding is 66.1% with the province of Banten achieving 55.9%, and in the city of Cilegon the coverage of breastfeeding is 57.57% where this figure is still below the national average. Posyandu Flamboyan II is a poyandu located in the Ketileng village area, Cilegon sub-district with exclusive breastfeeding coverage of 50.99%.

The low factor of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is that not all breastfeeding mothers understand lactation management. This is influenced by the condition of working mothers and mothers' knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and its benefits are still lacking.

The results of community service showed an increase in maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding by 14.5, from an average pre-test of 73.5 and an increase of 88 post-test.

Suggestions are needed for continuous efforts to implement health promotion, based on the findings of data processing where there are still some questions that have not been able to reach the maximum score, for example on items 15 and 20 where knowledge about how to store expressed breast milk has not been able to reach a value of 100 even though this material is the core of the success of the mother in breastfeeding while the mother is working
