Pendampingan Pembelajaran Berbasis Lift the Flap Story Book yang Berorientasi Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter Siswa Tunagrahita

Abstract


Character building is one of the important national priority programs to be instilled in all children, including education for children with special needs (CSN). In the implementation, it turns out that obstacles in developing CSN characters, especially in learning mathematics. Therefore, the support for learning mathematics based on Lift the Flap Story Book media, which is oriented towards strengthening character education, is very important and needed now. The accompaniment for six students with special needs categorized as mentally retarded was carried out in September-October 2022 with mentally disabled students at the junior and senior high school levels at SLB Bhakti Kencana Berbah, Yogyakarta. The accompaniment includes giving a test of problem-solving abilities and characters, introducing the Lift the Flap Story Book media feature, accompaniment and learning basic arithmetic operations through authentic problems using media, and response questionnaire. Based on the analysis, 100% of students never used these media in learning mathematics. Although 83.33% of the student’s experience problems completing basic arithmetic operations, are passive, lack confidence and are less motivated during mathematics learning. The problems presented in the media are authentic and attractively packaged. In addition, the media contains windowed puzzles that help students gain meaningful learning.
