English mentoring program di SD Muhammadiyah Miliran, Yogyakarta

Abstract


English is one of the pre-eminent schools in Muhammadiyah elementary schools, especially Miliran Muhammadiyah Elementary School. But in reality there are still problems related to the ability of students, namely low mastery of vocabulary and speaking skills in English that still need to be optimized. English Mentoring Program (EMP) is a concrete solution in overcoming these problems. The purpose of this EMP Program is to provide insight for Teachers and Employees at Miliran Muhammadiyah Elementary School and Mentoring for students of Muhammadiyah Miliran Elementary School. A comprehensive EMP (involving teachers and students) and sustainable is a structured and gradual program that is expected to be realized. The method in the program, the executor starts the program by forming a planning team and preparing all the tools that will later be used in the EMP (preparation of mentors, modules, etc.). Then control the implementation of the EMP by providing training and assistance in improving English language skills for teachers and organizing English learning for students. The results and the impact of this activity is that the implementation of the English Mentoring Program can be carried out well in the context of realizing English days in schools and mentoring students at SD Muhammadiyah Miliran. This is evident from the results of increased student tests. In addition to increased vocabulary mastery, students' motivation and confidence in speaking English also increased.
