Pemahaman pembatik terhadap bahaya bahan kimia dan pewarna di area pembatik Gunungkidul

Abstract

Nowadays, the opportunity to export batik is very fast, and it can give an impact to increase the welfare of the batik makers. Many factors can influence the success of export batik, such as the consistency of production, and also the health of batik makers. Some disturber of health factors from batik makers is usually coming from wax vapor, chemical ingredient and also batik dyes. The true knowledge about the use of chemical ingredients and batik dyes is important to minimize fault and increase the level of health of batik makers. According to that, this community service is done to increase the knowledge of batik makers about the use of chemical ingredients and batik dyes. This community service is targeted to batik makers in areas of Patuk and Playen, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. The observation was done by seeing the knowledge of batik makers before and after counseling agenda using knowledge questionnaire. The definition of knowledge is about work environment including process, risk, the effect that appears, and also the kind of solution to overcome the risk during the batik process. The community services were attended by Amarta batik makers (Patuk) around 23 people and Manggar batik makers (Playen) around 19 people. In general, the result of this community services showed that by using direct communication in counseling agenda, it could increase the knowledge of the 2 areas of batik makers. The increasing knowledge reached above 78% and 80% respectively for Amarta and Manggar batik makers.
