Pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui peningkatan kapasitas bank sampah “Bersih Bersama” di Karang Anom, Sitimulyo, Piyungan, Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta

Bank Sampah Bersih Bersama, located in Karang Anom, Sitimulyo Piyungan, Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, is an active community-based waste bank. With 100 current members, this community can get an average monthly turnover of Rp 700.000,00 - Rp 750.000,00. Out of 100 members, 70 members deposited their waste regularly. It is quite a large number, considering the members are from a village of 269 families. Various types of waste that are accepted here are including paper, metal cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and plastics; most of the collected wastes are from plastics and paper categories. The main activities of this community are collecting and separating the trash, and then selling them to collectors. However, the wastes that have been separated and collected can be recycled into different kinds of product that can be reused or even to be sold. This community service has a goal to give training on waste recycling for the community to make handicrafts, which later can be reused or to be sold. After the training, the community members can make lanterns from plastic bottles, and bags from plastic sachets.
