Abstract

Government declared the development of the energy sector as one of the national priorities, set out in program “Desa Mandiri Energi” and “Desa Mandiri Desa Membangun”. Mosque as a means of worship also requires energy supplies in its operations, such as lighting, sound systems and other audio-visual equipment. The purpose of this activity is to introduce solar cell technology to the community and training in the use and care of solar cells. The method of implementing the activity consists of several stages, the introduction of solar cell technology to the community (socialization) and training in the use and maintenance of solar cells. The results of this activity is panel Addition of 80wp solar cells to meet the energy needs of the mosque and its surroundings. Counseling and installation of solar cells is very helpful for the village community of Serut, gedang sari, Gunung Kidul centered on the mosque. Through this activity the mosque can meet its own electricity needs without having to wait for mosque pilgrimage contributions or donors' contributions to meet electricity needs. In addition, the addition of lighting around the mosque provides benefits for the community when they are active at night so as to bring unlimited economic, social and educational empowerment.
