Pelatihan pemanfaatan sampah rumah tangga minyak goreng bekas menjadi sabun mandi

Abstract

With the increasing use of cooking oil in daily life, the waste of used cooking oil also increased. Used cooking oil disposed of in the environment is one of the sources of environmental pollution. It needs tobe processed into something that elevates its economic value. Soap is one of the alternative products from reusing used cooking oil. A workshop on soap making from used cooking oil was presented to the members of Aisyiah Sub-Branch (PRA) Mulyodadi, Bambanglipuro, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The workshop wasdone while keeping the health protocol in mind. The materials were NaOH solution, filtered cooking oil waste, castor oil, lemongrass oil, and olive oil. The filtered cooking oil waste then weighed and put in an aluminum basin. The NaOH solution was slowly added while stirring for 30 minutes and other materials were added and stirred until blended and thickens. The soap mixture poured into a mold, removed after six days, and then packed. The soap left to cure for two month. Hopefully, this workshop could give the community a new knowledge, especially PRA members could manage used cooking oil and processed it into a usable product.
