Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago, which has 17,504 islands and has the second longest line in the world after Canada, which is 99,093 km long. Behind the natural wealth owned by the Indonesian state, this country has the potential for natural disasters, one of which is an earthquake. In Yogyakarta, there is an area that has the potential for an earthquake disaster, namely the Opak Fault. This fault is actively moving, so it is often the cause of earthquakes that shake Jogja. This service is carried out by providing disaster risk reduction training in the Opak River fault with the aim of preventing and minimizing casualties due to natural disasters that occur due to the shift of the Opak River fault. This Community Service Program (PPM) activity is carried out using extension methods, workshops, mentoring, independent assignments, and simulations. Activities are carried out online and face-to-face, given the Covid-19 pandemic. This community service program involves administrators of the Muhammadiyah branch of Berbah Sleman and Jogotirto, Berbah, Sleman villages and is conducted for two semesters. The result of this community service program is that the community is able to understand and implement basic principles related to disaster risk reduction as a result of a shift in the Opak River Fault. This understanding can be a form of experience and provision for the community when faced with various disasters due to the impact of the opaque river cascade.
