Pemanfaatan Minyak Jelantah Untuk Pembuatan Lilin Sebagai Alternatif Mengatasi Limbah Domestik dan Meningkatkan Nilai Tambah

Abstract


Used cooking oil is used oil from cooking activities, using used cooking oil many times can cause diseases such as cancer. It can contaminate the soil in its path, causing the soil's pores to close, and the earth becomes rigid so that it is no longer able to support human activities. One solution for handling used cooking oil is by processing it into the wax. The Community Service Program (PPM) was carried out in Tirtonirmolo Kasihan Village, Rogocolo Bantul DIY, in collaboration with BKM Tirtorahayu to provide counseling making candles from used cooking oil. The activity began with a lecture on various household waste types, how to sort it out, and how to use it. The second session was a practice of processing used cooking oil into the wax. 100 ml of used cooking oil is added with five tablespoons of stearin and then heated. After the stearin is dissolved, the coloring of used crayons is added according to taste. Then the dough is molded in a glass container by adding a wick. This training's output is expected that the people of Tirtonirmolo Bantul can use used cooking oil for making candles for lighting purposes or exciting souvenirs.
