Pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah untuk pengendalian vektor penyakit di Modalan, Banguntapan

Abstract

Public education regarding complex environmental problems due to piles of waste is needed to build public awareness. Garbage has direct and indirect impacts, including water, air and soil pollution, increased greenhouse gas effects and sources of disease. The indirect impact of garbage is that it can become a vector nest and a reservoir for such as cockroaches, mosquitoes, rats and others. The aim of this program is community empowerment in waste management to control disease vectors in overcoming waste problems in the environment. The method of implementation is through counseling and training in Modalan, Banguntapan Bantul which offers solutions to overcome these various problems. The targets of this program are women health cadres, heads of waste banks, and community leaders totaling 18 people. The program was carried out for 2 weeks starting with counseling and training which was conducted on October 10, 2020 at the Modalan Hamlet Hall. Furthermore, assistance and monitoring and evaluation of the program are carried out. The training implemented consists of counseling on diseases caused by waste, simple compost making practices (liquid compost and solid compost), ecobrick making training and vegetable village training. The training went well and the participants were enthusiastic about participating in the programs given because it was the first time the participants received the counseling and training. The measurement results obtained data that there was an increase in knowledge before being given this program compared to after being given this program. Within two weeks the counseling and training will also be practiced at home and will produce the results of these programs.
