Pemberdayaan kelompok wanita tani mentari melalui optimalisasi lahan pekarangan rumah dengan budidaya tanaman pangan

Abstract

Dukuh Gatak is a hamlet located in Bangunharjo, Sewon, Bantul. Some of the people of Dukuh Gatak are housewives. As a form of community empowerment, Sewon Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) calls for the formation of the Women Farmers Group (KWT). KWT Mentari as an organization that was recently formed by housewives in Dukuh Gatak already has a simple organizational structure. However, the division of labor between individuals has not been well explained. In addition, based on observations, most of the yards owned by the Dukuh Gatak community are just left alone. In fact, the yards can be managed properly then it can provide benefits as a source of food and a source of income. In this case, a community service is needed to empower KWT Mentari members to obtain benefits such as fulfilling independent food needs and getting additional sources of income. Community service activities are carried out in the form of counseling and training, namely: (i) counseling and designing of organizational structures; (ii) counseling and training on the use of yards with food plants; and (iii) training on producing value added products, that is garlic powder. The results of this community service activities that have been carried out, are KWT members have knowledge and understanding related to organizational management, use of yard land, and have value-added products. KWT members have also been able to utilize their yards by planting food crops. In addition, KWT members are also able to produce value-added products in the form of marketable garlic powder.
