USING PICTURE STORY BOOK TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSION IN THE SECOND GRADE OF SMPN 1 GANTIWARNO

Abstract


Nowadays, English is an important thing to learn. And reading comprehension is the first skill that foreign language learners need to learn before reading, speaking and listening. Reading comprehension can improve vocabulary in foreign language learners of children. Therefore, researchers use visual media to teach English, namely using picture story books. The researcher's aim in conducting this research is to explain and describe whether the use of picture story books can improve reading comprehension in class VII students at SMPN 1 Gantiwarno. This article applies the CAR method using picture story books. CAR is a method where interaction occurs between teachers and students. This research uses a mix research design. The methods are planning, implementation, observation and reflection. And the tools used to collect data are questionnaires and interviews. The results of the mix method design are the result of a combination of two research methods, qualitative and quantitative design.
