Abstract

The characteristics of women are often portrayed, such as feminism, elegance, politeness, tendency to gossip, and so on, in comparison to men. The differences in these characteristics can create variations in language use between the two genders. The purpose of this research is to investigate the linguistic characteristics of women in the TV series "Imperfect The Series 2" using Lakoff's perspective. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, with the subject being the TV series Imperfect The Series 2, and the object being the language used by female characters in the series. Data collection is carried out through the techniques of free observation and note-taking, and textual analysis is used as the analytical method. The findings reveal the use of linguistic characteristics such as hedge (11 data), tag question (20 data), question intonation (11 data), empty adjectives (20 data), intensifier (18 data), hypercorrect grammar (10 data), super polite form (21 data), and avoidance of strong swear words (22 data). The most frequently used linguistic characteristic is the avoidance of strong swear words, while the least found is hypercorrect grammar.
