INTERPERSOAL METAFUNCTION ANALYSIS USED BY JAMES AND KENDALL ON THE LATE LATE SHOW
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the interpersonal functions used by James and Kendall in conversation. This research identifies the analysis of Mood Elements and Speech Function. The researcher used descriptive qualitative to find the types of Mood types in the conversation. Declarative Mood Elements 61, Interrogative 21, Imperative 10, Paralanguage 16, and Minor 29. While Speech Function there are 62 Statements, 6 Acknowledgments, 21 Questions, 13 Answers, 6 Offers, 6 Acceptances, 2 Rejections, 11 Commands, 1 Compliance, 6 Calls, 1 Respond to Call, and 2 Greetings. The host and guest star actively took turns initiating give - take exchanges. This shows that understanding interpersonal communication has an important role in social dialect and information exchange.
