Regulasi Emosi pada Mahasiswa dengan Trikotilomania
Abstract
This study aims to determine the description and factors that influence emotional regulation in female students with trichotillomania. The research subjects involved were final year female students of Sebelas Maret University aged 21-25 years, totaling four people. This study was conducted using a qualitative phenomenological method. Sampling was carried out with criterion sampling and using a content analysis approach. The results showed that female students with trichotillomania, regulate emotions by avoiding, seeking escape, and being alone. Each subject tends to have similarities in the process of regulating emotions, until finally trichotillomania behavior continues to emerge. The stages in the description of emotional regulation experienced by the subject are the process of recognizing emotions felt such as sadness and anger, the next stage is avoiding and trying to be alone to reflect, unconsciously carrying out trichotillomania behavior until feeling satisfied, then seeking emotional escape with positive things such as sports, cleaning the house, and watching movies. Then, the factors that influence the process of emotional regulation are culture or the surrounding environment, level of religiosity, individual ability to avoid and reflect on emotions being felt, age, gender, and psychological conditions by controlling the problems being faced.
