Determinant of GRDP in Riau Islands Province: TPT, HDI, Gini Value, and Poverty Level (2015-2022)

Abstract

As one of the important indicators, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) can be used as a reflection of the economic conditions in a region. GRDP can be used as a reflection of the economy because GRDP can represent regional economic production and growth.  Riau Islands Province, which is included in one of the outermost provinces in Indonesia, is an area that directly borders Singapore, one of the countries with the largest and second busiest port in the world. Thus, different economic characteristics make the Riau Islands the main destination for job seekers. This study aims to determine how GRDP is affected by the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), Human Development Index (HDI), gini value and poverty rate of Riau Islands Province with a time period from 2015 to 2022, using panel data regression analysis through analytical tools in the form of STATA 14. The results showed that all independent variables had a significant effect on the dependent variable, except for the gini value variable which had no effect on the level of GRDP in Riau Islands Province
