Beban Kognitif Mahasiswa Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Selama Pembelajaran Daring di Masa Pandemi COVID-19

Abstract


A very sudden and inevitable change due to the COVID-19 pandemic has a direct impact on changing learning methods, from offline to online. This survey research aims to explore the cognitive load experienced by students in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research population was University of Ahmad Dahlan students and with a non-probability purposive sampling technique, 469 students (156 males and 313 females) from 11 faculties participated as research subjects. The data collection tool used the Cognitive Load scale with the mean of item discriminating power of 0.632 and composite score reliability coefficient of 0.805. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis showed that the majority of the research subjects (50.31%) had moderate cognitive load. Most students at University of Ahmad Dahlan simply feel the load received and processed by working memory on the cognitive system, but have started to find ways to adjust (adaptation) to various dynamics of the problems of online learning methods.


Perubahan yang sangat mendadak dan tidak terelakkan akibat pandemi COVID-19 berdampak langsung terhadap perubahan metode pembelajaran, luring menjadi daring. Penelitian survei ini bertujuan untuk menjajagi beban kognitif yang dialami mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran daring selama masa pandemi covid-19. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa Universitas Ahmad Dahlan dan dengan teknik non probability purposive sampling diperoleh 469 mahasiswa (156 laki-laki dan 313 perempuan) dari 11 fakultas berpartisipasi sebagai subjek penelitian. Alat pengumpulan data menggunakan skala Beban Kognitif dengan rerata indeks daya beda aitem = 0,632 dan koefisien reliabilitas skor komposit = 0,805. Hasil analisis statistik deskriptif menunjukkan mayoritas subjek penelitian (50,31%) memiliki beban kognitif pada taraf sedang. Sebagian besar mahasiswa Universitas Ahmad Dahlan cukup merasakan beban yang diterima dan diolah oleh memori kerja pada sistem kognitif, namun sudah mulai menemukan cara penyesuaian diri (beradaptasi) dengan berbagai dinamika permasalahan metode pembelajaran daring.
