Persuasive Communication of The Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Office (DP3AP2) of Yogyakarta Special Region in Improving Digital Literacy and Public Awareness of Sexual Violence

Abstract

The Persuasive communication is the process of delivering messages from communicators until they are received, processed, and understood by communicants. Sexual violence is a negative event that violates human rights and adversely affects victims in the long term. Sexual violence can happen to anyone at any time. This continues to happen every year, and the average victim is a woman. This research explains how the strategy of the DIY Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control (DP3AP2) in increasing digital literacy and public awareness in sexual violence. The aim is to know and understand the strategies of DP3AP2 DIY in improving digital literacy and increasing public awareness with the Psychodynamic, Sociocultural, and The Meaning Construction approaches. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research, using strategies from Melvin L. DeFluer and Sandra J. Ball-Roceach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. For data validation using source triangulation methods and techniques. The results of this study are expected that DP3AP2 DIY can help the community in preventing sexual violence by measuring changes in public understanding of information related to sexual violence so as to increase digital literacy and public awareness, then women will be safer and more vigilant and also avoid sexual violence.
