Abstract


This research is in the background by the level of children’s cognitive achievement in counting 1 – 20 sequentially
which is still low in ABA Sendangsari kindergarten. The purpose of this research is to determine whether the
method of playing congklak can improve the ability to calculate the mathematics of beginning of children in group
B2 in ABA Sendangsari kindergarten. Numeracy games in kindergarten are needed to develop basic knowledge
of mathematics so that children are mentally ready for further mathematics learning in primary school of number
concepts, number symbols through a variety of fun tools and play activities. For children it is a congklal game.
The type of research is classroom action research with independent variables of congklak play method and
cognitive ability dependent variables numbered 1 – 20 in sequence.
The research subjects were children of group B2 in ABA Sendangsari kindergarten which numbered 5 children.
The results that have been obtained are analyzed and it can be concluded that the congklak game can improve the
ability to calculate beginning mathematics.
