PENYIMPANGAN MAKSIM KERENDAHAN HATI DAN MAKSIM PENGHARGAAN DALAM GRUP WHATSAPP MAHASISWA

Abstract

Internet users in Indonesia currently reach 63 million people. based on that number, 95 percent use the internet to access social networking. Conversation on whatsApp group leverages the use of language. Language reflects the identity of the speaker so that language is also a form of expression from the speaker's mind. Conversations in social media in the form of whatsApp accounts often lead to violations of the principle of decency. The purpose of this study is to describe the deviation of modesty maxim and deviation of approbation maxim in the student's whatsapp group. This type of research is qualitative with pragmatic approach. The data collected are the total of 12 conversations, while the data source in this study is whatsApp group conversation students Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Technique of data collecting is done with technique of recording conversation whatsApps. The data analysis technique is done by reading whatsApp, categorizing whatsApp based on the principle of language politeness and calculating the percentage of whatsApp which is violating. The results showed that of the 12 group conversations of whatsApp in 5 different groups there were 7 conversations that showed the deviation of approbation maxim and 3 conversations that made the deviation of modesty maxim, while 2 conversations including polite.
