Abstract

Transformational thinking can support the process of change. In the educational context, the change will make teachers have a creative way of thinking so that they can implement various types of new policies, including Merdeka Belajar. Based on interviews with several school principals, teachers were still not optimal for implementing it. Therefore, activities were needed to help them achieve comprehensive self-improvement. With this attempt, they were able to take initiative in implementing Merdeka Belajar. Based on the analysis of the situation and problems, the proposed solutions were (1) how was the implementation of assistance in implementing a transformative thinking-based learning model in supporting the implementation of Merdeka Belajar at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kalasan, (2) how was the teachers' self-evaluation after participating in the assistance activities, and (3) how was the feasibility of transformation theory in learning for supporting the realization of Merdeka Belajar. The activity adapted the research and service activity model, which involved participation planning. The activity was attended by all subject teachers. The results of PKM activities were that teachers had a broader and more dynamic perspective in implementing the Merdeka Belajar. This change in perspective could be observed in making lesson plans that were able to train students to be more independent and confident in making decisions. During discussions, teachers showed a more transformative way of thinking, for example when they made learning designs to implement transformation learning so that students could achieve the process of change towards Pancasila Students.
