Abstract

The small jeans industry cluster in Surobayan Village, Wonopringgo District, Pekalongan Regency is a category of small industry or home industry. The number of jeans entrepreneurs in Pekalongan Regency is quite large, namely 84 jeans craftsmen. In addition to the problem of waste that is formed, there are other problems that can affect the continuity of the jeans production process, starting from the input, which is the selection of raw materials of jeans that are not appropriate and inefficient, the use of excessive resources (water, energy), causing KBP (Output Not Product ), facilities and infrastructure that are not environmentally friendly, and irregular layout. This of course can cause major influences on the increase in operational costs and can reduce productivity caused by declining employee health caused by poor governance or layout. The use of water, energy, and raw materials that are inefficient causes a lot of waste that generated and increased production costs, the existence of water waste, jeans fabric raw material and energy in the form of firewood. Waste of water usage (water inefficiency) in the production process causes more liquid waste to be generated. Moreover, in general the small jeans industry is in the middle of a settlement, so that the unpleasant odor of liquid waste and exhaust gases from the cooking process will greatly disrupt the surrounding community, because wastewater is disposed of randomly in water bodies. There are 4 aspects needed before the MeLOK model is applied to the jeans industry, namely: (1) socialization, carried out in the process of making jeans, facilities and infrastructure used and waste generated, (2) eco-efficiency training is conducted for jeans business owners, employees and the community, (3) Assistance is carried out to obtain quantity input and output that will be used to calculate the material balance, (4) technical and economic feasibility analysis to be compared before the MeLOK model
