Abstract

In the history of Islamic civilization, ulama (Muslim scholars) have always been important actors in determining the direction of the Ummah’s journey. One of the factors they have a very significant role in history is because they produce written works. In this fast-paced internet era, writings from Muslim scholars can be in the form of fatwas in popular writings spread on websites or social media. Unfortunately, not all Muslim scholars have good writing skills in the form of popular writings that deserve publication. At this point, a Muslim scholar, especially in the Muhammadiyah environment, must have soft skills in writing. This community service seeks to help prospective clerics who are educated in the Muhammadiyah environment, in this case, PUTM, so that later when they have become ulemas in the true sense, they can guide the community both verbally and in writing, equally well. One of the solutions to this problem is to hold training in writing popular articles for these prospective clerics. Because it is still in the Covid-19 pandemic, and PUTM is still implementing an online learning process, this community service is also conducted online.
