The Impact of Bingo Game on Students’ Simple Past Tense Mastery

Abstract


The objective of this research was to know the impact of using bingo game on students’ simple past tense mastery at eighth grade of MTs Al-Ma’Arif 1 Kabupaten Sorong. Related to the objective, the research used pre-experimental research design with quantitative approach. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of MTs Al-Ma’arif 1 Kabupaten Sorong which consist of 68 students that devided into three classes. The sample of this research was VIIIA students which consist of 22 students with 13 males and 9 females. In collecting the data, the researcher used grammar test about simple past tense with 10 multiple choice questions and 10 fill in the blank questions for pre-test and post-test. So, the total number of the instrument was 20 questions. In analyzed the data, the researcher used SPSS 20 program to calculate the data. After analyzed the result of paired sample T-test, the Alternative hypothesis (Ha) which said that the use of bingo game impact on students’ simple past tense mastery at eight grade of MTs Al-Ma’Arif 1 Kabupaten Sorong is accepted and the Null hypothesis (H0) which said that the use of bingo game does not impact on students’ simple past tense mastery at eight grade of MTs Al-Ma’arif 1 Kabupaten Sorong is rejected. In addition, the result of P-Value was 0.000 that was smaller than 0.05. it means that students pre-test and post-test was significantly different. It could be concluded that the use of bingo game impact on students’ simple past tense mastery.
