Abstract

Speech acts have become quite important in communicating. Teachers utilized directive speech acts more frequently in class interactions than assertive, commisive, expressive, and declarative speech acts. Directive speech acts are important in teaching and learning activities both directly in the classroom and online learning because the speech acts used by teachers must be perceived by pupils.
