Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Realistic Mathematics Education approach on students’ mathematics achievement. This study used a quasi-experimental design conducted on 41 Accounting students of Vocational School at SMK Taman siswa Banjarnegara. Students were divided into two groups. The treatment group namely, the Realistic Mathematics Approach group consisted of 19 students and the control group namely, the scientific approach group consisted of 22 students. The instrument used in this study was the achievement test. To determine the difference in mean achievement the two groups, data were analyzed using one sample test.  The results of descriptive analysis of learning achievement in the Realistic approach class showed an average increase of  86,32 from the pretest to 49,47 from the posttest. In the Scientific approach class showed an average increase of 49,55 from the pretest to 71,82 from the posttest. t value in mathematics learning with realistic mathematics approach is 18,614> 0,05 and scientific approach is 0,463> 0,05 so that both approaches are effective in terms of mathematics learning achievement. Different test analysis t-test using the assumption of equal variances assumed where the sig (2-tailed) value obtained is 0.063 > 0.05 so that H0 is accepted. That the average score of the final mathematics learning achievement
