IMPLEMENTATION OF ASSURANCE, RELEVANCE, INTEREST, ASSESSMENT, AND SATISFACTION IN TEACHING ENGLISH AT SMK TUNAS HARAPAN JAKARTA

Abstract


The success of teaching English is usually determined by the appropriate model that is used by the teachers. One of the models that is popularly used by teachers is ARIAS learning model. ARIAS stands for assurance, relevance, interest, assessment, and satisfaction. This study tries to investigate the effectiveness of ARIAS in supporting students’ learning process especially in learning English for students of SMK Tunas Harapan Jakarta. This model is implemented in trying to increase students’ English vocabulary, since most of them still have low vocabulary mastery. By having enough vocabulary, it can lead the students to master their English skills like listening and speaking. To get the data of this study, experimental study is applied. The aim is to explore the students’ engagement in learning process by implementing ARIAS model. It is hoped that the student’s vocabulary at SMK Tunas Harapan Jakarta can be better. The finding of the study shows that the hypothesis Hi is accepted; it means with the t-test P (0.699) < oc (0.05). It can be concluded that teaching vocabulary using ARIAS learning model is effective.
